By law, all half-hourly electricity meters must have a Meter Operator Agreement (MOP contract) in place. Your meter operator is responsible for the installation and ongoing maintenance of your meter as well as providing the data communication link that sends your consumption data to your energy supplier.
A Data Collector (DC) or Data Aggregator (DA) collects your energy consumption data, verifies it, and then sends this information to your energy supplier so that you can be accurately invoiced.
Most customers are not aware that they can choose their own MOP and DC/DA providers. That’s why Utility Swap works in partnership with the leading MOP DC/DA providers in the market to ensure that you are paying the lowest cost possible whilst ensuring you receive a high-quality service. All of our half-hourly customers are provided with a log in where they can view their energy consumption data over various time periods, which provides opportunities to see where your usage can be reduced. Typical monetary savings for not accepting the default providers appointed by your energy supplier range between 10 – 50%.
